Greetings to all lovely people!
Hi there, I’m Annabel, a Stay-at-Home mum with three beautiful kids; Iyzelle, Dante and Sarada.
Being a Singaporean, I was brought up in an environment whereby you’ve got to be efficient. Not that it’s bad (we all know the benefits of being productive and efficient) but sometimes, we get too carried away. Maybe once in awhile we should slow down and look at the things around us ; particularly bringing up a child. After the birth of my first child Iyzelle, I was still in the workforce and never once thought of being a stay-home mum.
Things looked great, Iyzelle’s retired grand-parents helped to look after her when my husband and I are out working. Like a typical young Singaporean parent, we get only a few hours with Iyzelle when we are back at home. During one weekend, I was taken aback when Iyzelle preferred to be carried by her grandmother instead of me. That’s when I asked myself: why would I want to miss out watching Iyzelle grow up? Guilt started pouring in as I breast fed Iyzelle for only 1 month. I knew I needed to do something for my second child in future in order to fulfil what a mom should do.
2 Years later…
Shortly after I got my second pregnancy, I left my full-time job to be a stay-home mum. I want to be deeply involved in my two Love Ones’ growing process. That’s when I started researching everything from massaging a baby, development of your child’s character, how to be a mum (yes, we know there is no instruction manual for parenthood but we all wished there was one, right?) and even how to increase the production of breast milk, that’s when I stumbled onto something called the Breast Milk Keepsake Jewelry. I was filled with excitement and was thinking: “wouldn’t it be wonderful to preserve Breast Milk as a memento/jewelry? Something with sentimental bearing for us to have in the future!”
The Birth of Precious Lifetime Memories.
I started experimenting with online recipes. It was depressing, literally everything that can go wrong went wrong. Apparently, online recipes are only 70% true as none seems to work. The end product is always either too brittle or degrades too quickly. So I have to seek help from a few friends who are by profession good with chemical compositions. I had to convince them to experiment with my Breast Milk. Thankful for my childhood friends that are very supportive.
Nevertheless, it took us quite some time to produce a durable art piece, most of the times it looked too plastic. After countless times of trial and error, we succeeded! Immediately, I let Iyzelle wear the keepsake jewellery using my Breast Milk and found myself smiling. I knew straight away, that in many years to come, I will find myself smiling again when Iyzelle takes it out to remind me of the journey we have shared together.
In 2015, I also went through a course from DNA artistry to perfect the preservation process.
In the recent years as keepsake jewelries become popular, it has also come to our attention that some parents would like to have something special to honor their angel baby.
